ARTIST STATEMENT

I'm an expressionist artist driven by movement, colour and question. My abstracts are microclimates of exploration and intuition, overcoming chaos as the work builds to reveal the unforeseen, alla prima. My figuratives are triggered by outrage at prejudice, injustice, or to celebrate and exalt.

Inspired by an exploration of colour, lush and loose, the paint swirls and mingles and I'm in the flow. My brushes dance, a visceral reaction to music - hip hop and raggaeton. I paint en français, the language of my happy childhood in Genève, Switzerland.

My paintings add energy, movement and colour, and my work ranges from neoexpressionist abstracts to figurative work influenced by Basquiat. My abstracts are inspired by the physicality of paint and the exploration of colour and gesture. My figuratives ranges from fun and celebratory, to ranging against prejudice and injustice. My Nudes Got Attitude and Los Muertos got something to say!

My process is intuitive. The creative flow guides my work, energetic, raw and edgy with bold colouration and gestural brushstrokes. My paintings embrace personal expression and explore the subjective.

I was born in London England, grew up in Genève en Suisse, and live in North Vancouver, BC, Canada. I'm an Art Culture Vulture, attending art exhibitions and museums in France, Spain, Mexico or NYC whenenever possible. Beziers in Occitanie, France is my home away from home. I attended Emily Carr School of Art and Design (now Emily Carr University). Thank you to my collectors in Canada, USA, Mexico, France and Turkey.
